Water filtration is not a new concept, but every day we’re learning more about how certain waterborne contaminants can affect our overall health. With the issue of aging pipes linked to higher levels of lead and heavy metal contamination in tap water, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that something needs to be done.
Some of us are lucky enough to have access to some sort of ‘trusted’ water source—simply turn on the faucet and you’ve got water that’s ready for use. However, how pure that water is and how drinkable that water is, tell a different story. There are many contaminants in tap water that can cause serious health risks with prolonged exposure; they can seriously make you second-guess drinking straight from the tap. Depending on where you live, you may experience tap water that leaves a film in your mouth, making your mouth feel dry and chalky afterward. You may even experience tap water that tastes almost like pool water from all the added chlorine that wards off bacteria and other bio-contaminants. Or, you could even see how un-clean the water is just by pouring it into a glass and holding it to the light. Oftentimes, these types of tap water also alter the taste of coffee, tea, or even your cooking, making things taste just a little off.
As you may know, too much of anything is bad, but too much of a known bad thing—well, that can be detrimental. We know filtration isn’t a new technology, but it was just begging for improvement and we knew if anyone were to reimagine water filtration, it’s us. When it comes to water, we expect nothing less than pure, great-tasting water, and the LARQ Pitcher PureVis™ and LARQ Bottle Filtered deliver that. There is a whole list of contaminants in tap water that can be harmful to your health with prolonged exposure or at high levels that are often shown levels higher than the EPA recommended limits. We recommend checking the EWG or Environmental Working Group site to search your tap water contamination levels so you can be more informed about the quality of your water. You may also check our third-party lab reports to learn more about what contaminants Nano Zero filtration removes.
What is Nano Zero Filtration?
Nano Zero Filtration is a completely reimagined plant-based filter that utilizes core NZVI technology used in large-scale industrial applications such as oil spill cleanup and wastewater management. The activated carbon inside Nano Zero is carefully coated with an iron layer designed to attract and trap heavy metals out of the water flowing through. The carbon also grabs onto contaminants like chlorine and VOCs while the special iron layer grabs onto the heavy metals. We’ve figured out the Goldilocks ratio between carbon material that is packed looser to allow for faster water flow but still has the ability to effectively filter out contaminants. The result is pure water without the contaminants that may be harmful to your health and better tasting for your enjoyment.
Our Nano Zero filters have been tested to NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 standards by third-party labs to remove a range of contaminants like chlorine, lead, heavy metals, mercury, cadmium, particulate matter, and more.
Do filters eradicate bacteria, viruses, or other bio-contaminants like other LARQ products do?
Filters remove physical contaminants that they can grab onto such as heavy metals, chemicals, and more. However, bio-contaminants like bacteria and viruses can fester in filtered water as a lack of chlorine makes the water defenseless against the growth of bacteria and germs. Luckily, the LARQ Pitcher is equipped with our proprietary PureVis™ technology which effectively neutralizes bacteria such as E.coli from drinking water. The LARQ Bottle Filtered, however, does not contain PureVis™ technology, but you can easily purchase the LARQ Bottle PureVis™ Cap separately to switch from filter to purification technology whenever you need it.
