Who to support this Giving Tuesday

elaine / Nov 29

This Giving Tuesday, we want to spotlight some amazing nonprofit organizations that continue to do the work to spread good into this world. Did you know that 1 in 3 people all over the world don’t have access to clean water? Or that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish? These are some of the biggest reasons why it’s our responsibility to take action wherever we can.

We encourage you to donate to a nonprofit of your choice today—even if it’s an organization outside of this shortlist. If you aren’t in the position to donate, please share this article or discuss some of these issues with some friends. Any amount helps!

Well Aware

First on the list, is Well Aware, an organization we’ve partnered with since starting LARQ. From the beginning our mission was to bring clean water to people through our hydration products, combining innovative technology with our signature designs. We wanted to also partner with an organization that, at its core, was tackling the water crisis by bringing clean water to those who don’t have access to clean running water.

Well Aware’s approach is different. They use their knowledge and expertise to build wells that are to this day, 100% successful. These wells give communities in East Africa access to safe drinking water so that its people can live healthier lives. Their work has helped provide jobs, increase school attendance rates, improve gender equality, and drastically decrease the rate of waterborne diseases caused by dirty water. 1 in 3 people are drinking unsafe water. Well Aware is changing that.

Donating $15 to Well Aware provides clean drinking water for one person.

501CTHREE

In partnership with 501CTHREE and Draymond Green, we brought lasting clean water to Draymond’s hometown of Flint, Michigan. More than 2,000 people benefited from the Water and Food box. We chose to support 501CTHREE because of its unique commitment towards bringing clean water sustainably to communities right in our own backyard in the U.S. that still lack access to safe drinking water. Instead of handing out single-use plastic bottles of water, people can fill up their own reusable containers with clean drinking water. There is a constant need for the work that 501CTHREE is doing to improve our planet and our communities.

Plastic bank

Our partnership with Plastic Bank helped intercept over 1 million ocean-bound single-use plastic water bottles. Plastic Bank establishes ethical plastic collection branches near coastlines and waterways. These collectors will gather plastic waste directly from local beaches, riverbanks, neighbourhoods, and even households so they never make it to the ocean in the first place. A donation to Plastic Bank helps communities earn a living wage to families in developing countries like Haiti, the Philippines, and Indonesia, by collecting plastic and other waste keeping our oceans clean.

Become an Ocean Steward for Plastic Bank and continue to support communities cleaning up the ocean. $40 removes 40.0 kg of plastic from entering the ocean.
